Tjørnuvík is a great village to visit during the summer as well as in the winter. You can see the local people living their traditional farming life in the summer and autumn and in the wintertime the hillsides are often covered in snow and the waves are crashing against the sandy beach.

Tjørnuvik, Streymoy’s northernmost village located in Sunda municipality, has a population of around 71 (the last census was in 2006). The village used to be a natural harbor but after a horrific storm in the 1600s (noticing a pattern here?), the fjord became blocked with sand and became more inaccessible.
